Q: What is GLAM Inc.?

A: GLAM is a not-for-profit 501c3 providing comprehensive and innovative programs to at-risk girls ages 9-18 yrs throughout Marion County, IN, in order to help them become self-sufficient and live productive lives. GLAM was founded in 2008 by Shanel Poole, who herself struggled through abuse and homelessness throughout her teens.

Q: What kinds of programs does GLAM offer?

A: GLAM offers four program components: self-esteem development, academic development, professional development and college prep. GLAM also offers wrap-around services such as individual and group mentoring, life skills, and care packages that help with everyday needs. .

Q: What are the hours of operation?

A: GLAM conducts a Saturday program where all four phases of the program are implemented. Each phase is 12 weeks long, making total length of the program 48 weeks. The program has two age groups (9-13 and 14-18 yrs old) that meet on alternating Saturdays.

Q: What makes GLAM unique?

A: GLAM is a long term program, providing life skills and coaching to at-risk girls, free of charge.

Q: How many girls does GLAM serve?

A: The Saturday program has 40 girls on average.

Q: How do I get involved?

A: You can volunteer, be a guest speaker, facilitate a workshop, or donate. We require background checks for all volunteers. Q: What are the requirements for participation in GLAM?

A: A girl 9-18 years old and at risk of failing academically, battling low self esteem, in need of extra curricular activities, positive circle of peers, guidance, mentoring, or parents who would like reinforcement on teaching their daughter how to be a young lady. Since GLAM program is not based on parentsí forcing the girl to attend, commitment and dedication from the participant herself is the most important requirement.
